Why CrossFit?

I started doing CrossFit while in the Marine Recon. My buddies and I could not believe how intense you can make a 10-minute workout. I discovered one of CrossFit’s biggest benefits, utilizing scaled workouts during my recovery from an IED blast injury in 2006. I believe one of the biggest benefits to CrossFit is its ‘infinite scalability.” It’s blended elements of three very potent training protocols: weightlifting, gymnastics, and cardio-respiratory endurance. Through multiple injuries and setbacks, I have continued to train, adapt, and overcome.
About Me:
I love music (playing or listening), anything active, but especially climbing, golfing, or swimming. I love spending time with my lovely wife, Jordan, and my dogs Atlas and Lucy. Why I CrossFit?
I started Crossfitting only a short time ago, but quickly started seeing many benefits. As a person that plays all kinds of sports I immediately felt a difference in my cardio endurance, as well as over-all strength and agility. I love the fact that I am challenged everyday and that I see improvements in myself and know there is a greater level of fitness attainable with continued hard work. As a coach, there is no better satisfaction than seeing so many improvements in so many different people. Having members setting goals high and achieving them is what keeps me loving what I do.
About Me:

I am currently studying Kinesiology at the University of Kentucky and have future plans of continuing on to medical school to practice Sports Medicine. I love to play and watch all sports, especially golf and football. I also have a nerdy side and play lots of X-BOX LIVE, as well as just hanging out with friends and family and having a good time.

Position: Coach
Why CrossFit?
I was first introduced to CrossFit about a year and a half ago after trying everything else (for 15 years) and never looked back. Within weeks I knew that CrossFit was different. It wasn’t built on empty promises, but was established out of evidence based training that produced real results for everyday people. I feel that that is no other system that even comes close to developing the fitness of its practitioners. In addition, CrossFit has developed a community of people that I am proud to be a part of.

I am truly addicted to the daily CrossFit battle between success & failure. This is unlike any workout I have ever participated in & I am in the best shape of my life…that is why I love it! I am continually trying to improve my physical self so my mental & spiritual self can thrive, and CrossFit gives me the perfect avenue to push myself beyond what I ever thought I was capable of. “Feel the pain. Live the victory.”
About Me:
I was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, so yes I route for the “other” Wildcats. My softball career brought me to EKU where I played 4 years of Division-I Softball. Why CrossFit?
I switched to the CrossFit approach to fitness about two years ago, when a friend introduced me to it. I quickly realized that I started to look and feel like I was in better shape. I increased in strength, and improved dramatically in both my 5K and 10K times. I also have back problems from an accident about 8 years ago, which was constantly aggravated by conventional weightlifting. After I adopted CrossFit, my back problems are at a minimum, which speaks for itself as to why CrossFit is so important to me.

Why CrossFit?
I’ve always loved working out ever since high school. However, after college I fell off of the workout wagon and gained a few. After joining the military and successfully losing about 15 pounds the scale just didn’t move any more. I tried everything! Cutting calories, working out more; I just couldn’t figure it out. Joined CrossFIt in December 2009 and lost 20 pounds in 2 and a half months. I haven’t felt this great in a long time.
About me:
I am originally from Upstate NY and after graduating from Albany College of Pharmacy I joined the military and moved to Wichita Falls, TX. I met my wife there and she decided to go to pharmacy school here in Lexington at the University of Kentucky, so I followed. Love spending time with my wife, CrossFitting and reading.
