Cheaters Cheaters Pumpkin Eaters
I wouldn’t have believed that a person would actually cheat on a workout to get a better time until I witnessed it multiple times. Missing a few reps here or there is one thing, cutting approximately 3-5 reps EVERY round is another. Posting a weight that was done with a half Range Of Motion (ROM) is also a violation of your integrity. Who would do this?
More people than you think. Who are they truly cheating? Themselves!!! That’s the weirdest part. Why would one cheat on a workout trying to improve your fitness and quality of life. What does time mean without integrity on form, technique, and completion of the written repetitions.
This is not to say that scaling is frowned upon or included in this. By all means cut the workload by reducing rounds, weight, or alternative exercises. But that’s entirely different because it’s planned and for a purpose. Not because you are tired and know that those last 5-10 reps will cost you a precious 90 seconds. Big deal. Is it truly worth your integrity to get a faster time. The clock is one measuring tool, don’t let it become more than it’s supposed to be.

Great post and best…pic…ever!
Great post Freeman, very true and unfortunately a common occurrence.
Great post! Best pic ever!
Worst wod ever! First real wod after being on a plane for 20 hours two days prior. My heartrate was hanging out around 120 for 15 minutes after this. That was with a 30lb vest though. Absolutely brutal 5 minutes.
Well put Freeman!
I was starting to think I was the slowest person EVER because I am always the last to finish! I’m glad you pointed that out, makes me feel better
great post Freeman!! it happens all the time and although they r cheating themselves as a competitor it is hard to watch!! I dislike working out with those who repeat this over and over again! maybe this post will get them thinking and help them stop cheating themselves!
Exactly Freeman! It is easy to get caught up in the clock and wanting to go at a good pace, but not so much as to actually cheat! I feel guilty if I think I have missed on rep! Lol
Love it Freeman…funny that we were just talking about that just the other day. What those people dont realize is that even though they are trying to be indiscreet; it is so blatantly obvious. However those that continue to compromise form and reps will eventually hurt themselves and their bodies.
OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!!! This is like Christmas morning!!!!!!
I wouldnt waste my time going to the gym if I had to cheat. I think that you should call out the people who do this!
Much needed post, good one Freeman. Though I’ve seen some people do this harmlessly, especially in a tough WOD where they lose count or it has a gazillion reps. However, those who do this habitually should be called out (privately), and if not corrected, let’s encourage them to find another place to work out. No excuse for this at CFM.
We all lay our heads down at night… Glad I can with a clear conscious. Great post!!
I don’t cheat, but I sure do eat pumpkin!!! BTW’s I’m skipping soccer practice to go to the gym today!!!!!!
Bottom line if a judge Is counting EVERY REP COUNTS!!! Those who do this on purpose to look good on the bored are cheating themselves and there for the wrong reason!!! DO IT CLEAN DO IT ACCURATELY & CHECK EGO AT THE DOOR!!! The most impressive athletes in our box have no ego & wld NEVER fudge a time!!!
i cheat every chance i get…if you aint cheating you aint trying…
