WOD 8/26/10

Pullups work up to a heavy triple

Followed by:

AMRAP in 10 Minutes

20 Mountain Climbers (ea. side)

15 KTE’s

10 Ring Rows

Sometimes you aren’t the “winner of the WOD”….ok a lot of times you aren’t the “winner of the WOD” and that can seem super frustrating at times, but know this: that Crossfitters are such a small percentage of the population and you are helping raise the competition of athletic elitism each time you WOD.  What I am trying to get across is that when it comes to comparing Crossfitters aka; YOU to any other gym rat out there,

HANDS DOWN MY MONEY IS ON YOU TO KICK SOME WOD BUTT,

no matter how long you have been with us. So don’t let yourself get down, be proud of your work ethic, be proud of your individual progress because you are a lot further along than you think and a lot further along than the majority out there!

Not convinced?

I had a 47 year old CF member tell me a story of how they went to the doctor the other day and the doctor asked this individual if they were some sort of athlete!

Yes doc, this individual IS an athlete…its called a crossfitter.

Word to your mothah’

  1. I can TOTALLY relate to this story! I recently was asked at a doctor’s appointment if I was a “runner”, evidently due to my low pulse rate…. I was a bit taken off guard, because I usually don’t consider myself an “athlete” exactly. My reply was, “Oh no, I’m not a runner, I’m a crossfitter…and that’s alot harder!!”
So, I may not ever finish “first” in the wod, but I do believe my fitness level is better than it’s ever been in my life!!

  2. Love this topic. Being first in a WOD is miles behind many other aspects of Crossfit. Each WOD is an opportunity for you to develop and push yourself. The group setting isn’t as much for competition as it is community and support. Besides, each and every day you start all over again.

  3. I’m not even the winner of the WOD on those days when it’s just me – there’s always someone with a better number on the board. And I’m ok with that. My goal’s always to finish, to do a little more weight or a few more reps, to improve my form, to beat a certain time, to not stop (or not rest for long), to push all the way through the WOD. The win comes in the weight I’ve dropped, the fact that I’ve gone from never doing a pullup in my life to knocking out sets of a couple dead hangs at a time, my general improved health, and the feeling that yes, I am an athlete again.

  4. I look at the board everyday, and think I am SO slow! But that’s ok, I am able to do things that I never even tried before. I really appreciate the coaches and their sincere interest in my fitness. I am not a runner, in fact, I really don’t like it at all, but recently I was able to run the Bluegrass 10K in honor of a very brave Police Officer. I actually RAN the entire race with no training, and I give all the credit to crossfit for getting me through it. Thanks guys!

  5. I’m always the winner. My heart, lungs, blood chemistry, brain health, and self are improved every day. I may finish last sometimes… ok usually, but I’m still winning. Bitchez…

  6. I don’t care if I am the winner as long as I don’t look like the guy doing wall balls.

    His form sucks.
