Inspiration. It is really what it all boils down to. When I started Crossfit, I made the mistake of thinking that the major component of the success of the program was the workouts. CrossFit is the most effective way to get into the best shape of your life. Crossfit is the how to get there. What I missed was the why.
The why are the people. Crossfit has introduced me to some of the most inspirational people that I have ever met. These people inspire me to push myself to the limit each and every day. These aren’t just people you bump into at the gym, but instead people that become life long friends. These are the people that make CrossFit so unique in a world of mediocrity.
Take for example Amy. She went, as a spectator, to the recent Crossfit Sectional in Columbus Ohio. After being inspired by the performances of the athletes she made herself a promise that would challenge her each and every day. Amy decided that come hell or high water she was going to compete in the sectionals the following year. Since that day, I have personally witnessed her fight that battle each and every day. Each and every day she gets a little better and a little stronger (and her socks get a little higher). Inspirational.
What inspires you?

Well said!
Rock on, Amy!! I have no doubt that you will do everything in your power to be ready for next year! You’ve definitely got the right foundation—all heart!
Phenomenol…what a great inspiration she is and well said Sharp!!! Love you Amy…keep pushing everyday…the pain is only temporary.
Im inspired by her black socks. And it looks like Leah was inspired today with her knee high pink socks.
Socks inspire me haha
Amy you have come a long way, everyone who knows you is proud of you. Keep it up because everyone is seeing great results from all your hard work and determination.
What inspires me??? Being in a environment where success & putting everything you have and then some into a task is contagious. Where all of the superficial things we often deal with in daily life like titles, status, judgement, etc are meaningless. No matter what your age, size, athletic ability or lack there of is never ever a part of the equation. Everyday there are the most amazing people supported by coaches & staff that epitomize integrity helping me achieve my goals. There is a verse in a Nickelback song that sums it up “My best friend gave me the best advise he said EACH DAY IS A GIFT AND NOT A GIVEN RIGHT….leave no stone unturned leave your fears behind & try to take the road less traveled”
I look forward to the journey to sectionals and more importantly traveling that road with my Crossfit family. What a blessing!!! Thanks Monkey
great picture Amy! You are on your way. Its going to be the days you “just don’t feel like it”- that will take you to the next level. You have a ton of support! Go after it!
Well said my friend, that is very thoughtful. I’m not much on expressing my emotions and using all those BIG words, btw Amy, I had to breakout and dust off the Websters to decipher it all! J/K! I am impressed by everyday people with exceptional (lifting) form.
Wow! My eyes were getting misty reading all of the posts. What an awesome group Crossfit has!!!!
Doug and I witnessed firsthand just how much heart Amy has. A few weeks ago we returned home one evening to find our neighbors frantically looking for their puppy Lucy who had bolted out the door and run off. We joined Tom in canvassing the neighborhood in search of the puppy but without success. The three of us were returning home feeling discouraged because it was already dark out and a pretty cold evening so we weren’t hopeful that anyone would be outdoors to find Lucy. As we were walking down our street there was Amy parked in front of Tom’s house with Lucy! Amy had spotted Lucy running on Todd’s Road and had pulled over, stopped traffic (not easy to do in the dark on Todd’s road), had chased down and retrieved the puppy, and brought her back home. Many people would just have kept on driving but not Amy. She risked her own safety in the dark on a very busy road to make sure Lucy got home safely. Thanks again Amy for the happy ending, you’re a hero in my book!
Chris … Grabbing Lucy did just as much for my day as it did for you all. I’m just glad she had her phone number on her collar as I would have had #5 if not.;)
Amy’s rockin picture above reminds me:
