“Death By Push-Press”

With a continuously running clock do 1 Push-Press on the 1st minute, 2 Push-Presses the second minute, 3 Push-Presses the third minute….. continue as long as you are able.  You can use as many sets in that minute to complete your reps, but you must get all required reps before the next minute.

What’s the point anyway?

What’s the point of fitness? I mean why do we as human beings put ourselves through the punishment we do, especially in CrossFit workouts? Is it simply to look or feel better?

The purpose of CrossFit? To improve your general level of physical preparedness for life in each of the 10 general physical domains (strength, flexibility, stamina endurance, speed, power, balance, coordination, agility, accuracy). And at the pinnacle of the CrossFit hierarchical model of fitness – get out there and play, participate in and learn new sports, go on adventures, be an active participant in your life – surf, ski, play a sport, run, ride, climb a mountain, etc.

I’m sure each of you has your own answer to the original question… so what is it? Why do you do this? Are you actively participating in life and sport? Lets hear about it in comments. (CFLA)

  1. I saw Crossfit Louisville East has registered an Affiliate Team. We have competition in KY. Lets show them who the toughest team in KY is.

    Cant wait for the Death by Push Press. Sharp and Bo what time are you doing this WOD? Sharp I know last time we did this we pushed each other pretty far, and you won. I want a rematch :)

  2. I loved this one. Deime, Sharp got like 22, Bo got 22 or 23 and Todd got 26, think you got 19 which was still really good. You aren’t catching Sharp though, he is ridic. with push presses. Sharp/Bo, you can get 25 (325 reps). I am going for 23. I am jealous I won’t be there.

    Sorry I missed the bake sale last night. If it were tonight I would have been golden. Angie treated me well last night. I got a PR without tearing anything, which is nice.

  5. We do main site wods down here, about a week behind. Last night was deadlift/pullups. 150 is a lot of pullups, esp mixed with heavy deadlifts. I tore my hands pretty good, but a year ago I wouldn’t have been able to do this in my wildest dreams.

  6. Logan, you would not believe it. AJ stopped eating Taco Bell and Big Mac’s for every meal and must be on a healthy dose of steroids-His Fran and Grace times are under 3 now, and he did Murph under 30.

    I almost actually died on a “Death By”. 16 rounds, and straight to the garbage can. Thanks for the help and extra push Kris (and for the inspirational pre-wod pep talk). I think my response to “are you going to try 17?” must have been fun to watch. 25 rounds seems like a unicorn, I can’t believe its real.
