Why wear a cast on your foot when fitness training? Wearing FiveFingers during strength and fitness conditioning can increase your comfort, balance, performance and overall sense of control. That’s because many of the poses and exercises you perform during strength and fitness training rely on flexible yet stable support from your feet and legs.

FiveFingers footwear not only provides a sure-footed grip to enhance torque during power moves, it’s untrathin sole enhances feedback and lowers your center of gravity to improve balance and agility. FiveFingers will allow your foot to move naturally, flexing easily with every move you make. 6 Key Reasons to Wear or Train in Vibram FiveFingers:

1. Strengthens Muscles in the Feet and Lower Legs - wearing FiveFingers will stimulate and strengthen muscles in the feet and lower legs, improving general foot health and reducing the risk of injury.

2. Improves Range of Motion in Ankles, Feet and Toes – no longer ‘cast’ in a shoe, the foot and toes move more naturally.

3. Stimulates Neural Function Important to Balance and Agility -when wearing Vibram FiveFingers, thousands of neurological receptors in the feet send valuable information to the brain, improving balance and agility.

4. Improves Proprioception and Body Awareness – those same neurological receptors heighten body awareness, sending messages about body mechanics, form, and movement.

5. Eliminates Heel Lift to Align the Spine and Improve Posture – By lowering the heel, our bodyweight becomes evenly distributed across the footbed, promoting proper posture and spine alignment.

6. Allows the Foot and Body to Move Naturally, Which Just FEELS GOOD.

  1. Dear Vibram owners, there are 5 designs for women and 6 for men. Which one should I choose? Or which design do you wear? :-)

  2. I have Sprints. Fielding has KSO (‘Keep Stuff Out’)'s. If you are planning on working out or running in them get a pair with a top or strap across the top (like the Sprints). The lady at the store told me there have been reports of Vibrams popping off mid-workout if you don’t have a top.

Phil Gall’s in Lex. Go to the store to try them on. The sizing is European and thus strange like Europeans. Also, sizes differ among different designs.

I went to get a second set and they were out of Baby Gorilla (larger) sizes. They are supposed to get a new shipment in mid-Jan or Feb. Same with the Trail Store in Lou. I am going to check Ken Combs in Lou. They are supposed to get new colors too with the next shipment, if thats your thing.

Finally, its hard to put them on at first for everyone. Don’t let that discourage you. And start slow. Your feet are weak. :-P

  3. Most peoples feet are very weak if you have been wearing shoes your whole life. My feet are probably some of the weakest. I have had more improvements in my gait and strength in my feet in the last week, than I had in the last 2 months with cushy shoes and custom orthotics. I’m still adjusting to the shoes, but they seem promising. Also, they look extremely weird, so you have to get over that.
